Pro-Installer Clearance Tips:
Our air springs are built to perform under pressure, but even the toughest rubber can’t win against a sharp edge or a hot exhaust pipe. Because every vintage chassis is unique, ensuring your bags have “room to breathe” is a critical part of the installation:

  • The Three-Stage Check: You must verify your clearance at three critical stages: Fully Slammed, Normal Ride Height, and Fully Lifted.
  • Lower Arm Prep: On C10 and Square Body builds, the factory bump stop on the lower control arm must be removed. It is critical to grind smooth any sharp edges or metal stubs left behind from the removal of the bump stop bracket. These jagged edges will puncture the air spring as it expands and moves during travel.
  • The Moving Clearance Rule: While the bag may safely cradle or rest against the flat surface of the lower control arm when fully compressed (slammed), it must never rub against a sharp edge, a moving part, or a hot exhaust pipe during travel.
  • Custom Build Inspection: When cycling your suspension through its full range of motion (including full steering lock), keep a close eye on aftermarket upgrades. Ensure the bag stays clear of oversized sway bars, exposed cotter pins, protruding control arm bolts, or oversized brake conversions. Any contact with these components will lead to immediate abrasion failure.
